The anime adaptation of Ace of the Diamond is just hitting solid runs all around these days as we recently learned that there would be three OVAs produced for it that would be bundled with limited edition manga releases. Now things just got even better for the fans of the show as the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine is announcing that the esries is getting extended by two more seasons. With it previously set to run for five episodes that would take us through the summer 2014 season, it’s now going to extend to a run that will end in March 2015 instead with closer to eighty episodes depending on how they bring it all together. The series will be continuing on through the arc that has them playing against Inajitsu.
The manga comes from writer/artist Yuji Terajima who began the work back in 2006 in Weekly shonen Magazine. The anime adaptation is produced by Madhouse and Production I.G. and began in the fall 2013 season with a planned 50 episode run.
Series concept: I want to pitch to that mitt again… A meeting with catcher Kazuya Miyuki changed the 15-year-old Eijun Sawamura’s life. He said goodbye to all his friends and knocked upon the door of Seidou, a prestigious baseball school, intent on testing his own strength. There, he met many proud baseball players who were betting everything on the sport! A classic tale, yet new and fresh. All the emotion and excitement of the popular baseball manga is at last coming to television in the form of an anime!
