Seven Seas Acquires ‘Tomodachi x Monster’ Parody Manga Series

Seven Seas Acquires ‘Tomodachi x Monster’ Parody Manga Series Seven Seas Entertainment has picked up the rights to a series that will certainly delight, especially if it makes good inroads with the right crowd in the bookstore market, with the series Tomodachi x Monster, which is seen as a very violent and dark parody of the Pokemon style properties out there. The work comes from original creator Yoshihiko Inui with plans for release on February 23rd, 2016 priced at $12.99. The series began last summer in Manga Action and Seven Seas intends to release the property in single volumes rather that omnibus form. Each volume will contain a color insert.

“Tomodachi x Monster is like a certain pocket-monster story gone horribly wrong,” said Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis. “With this series you get to watch what really happens when kids with no conscience get hold of monstrous friends to do their bidding. Cute, yet macabre and gory. Tomodachi x Monster is to kids-and-their-monsters series what Magical Girl Apocalypse is to magical girl series.”

Plot concept: In a small mountainous village in rural Japan, strange creatures lurk. It’s here that young Wataru hears a voice calling out to him. Wandering from his school, he soon discovers a new “friend” that will transform his life forever – or drastically shorten it. Wataru learns of a hidden world of monsters who seek to befriend young children, and together with them enter a horrifying death match.
