Fox is putting a lot of money and hope into what could be the next Earth 2 with the fall debut of Terra Nova. The new series has some solid credits behind it, both in production and the acting department, but it’s a fairly big budget series with a lot of special effects requirements that could prove daunting. With how mixed receptions shows like these get, it’s hard to say where it could go, but it’s definitely the kind of show that will draw attention because Fox will be promoting it so heavily when it debuts on Monday nights at 8PM this fall. Fox has put out a first look trailer that clocks in at just under three minutes as part of their upfront package to showcase to advertisers what will be available. This one will certainly draw advertising for the first few episodes at the least due to the curiosity factor.
Plot summary: Epic family adventure series TERRA NOVA, executive-produced by Steven Spielberg (“Saving Private Ryan,” “Jurassic Park”), Peter Chernin, René Echevarria (“Castle,” “The 4400”) and Brannon Braga (“24”) and starring Jason O’Mara (“Life On Mars”) and Stephen Lang (“Avatar”), premieres in the fall. The ambitious series follows an ordinary family on an extraordinary journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a daring experiment to save the human race.
