With a home video release date still in the future, Pony Canyon has put out a new promotional clip for the Yuruyuri OVA that’s getting a brief theatrical showing first. That show is set for November 21st in japan where it’ll make its way to five theaters to give fans a chance to see it on the big screen before owning it. The story for it involves the girls on summer vacation, which of course is the kind of thing you want to see just as the cold starts to set in in the real world.
The OVA is directed by Masahiko Ohta, which is a change from the TV series, while Michiko Yokote will be handling the story. Motohiro Taniguchi is doing the character design instead of Chiaki Nakajima while also doubling as the chief animation director. None of this is a surprise since the special is also being animated someplace new as TYO Animation is handling it instead of Dogakobo.
Two series have come about so far for the slice of life manga which were simulcast on Crunchyroll with NIS America picking them up for Blu-ray releases along with Hulu distribution.
Plot concept: Right after starting middle school, Akari Akaza joins the Amusement Club which is composed solely by her two childhood friends, Kyouko Toshinou and Yui Funami. Chinatsu Yoshikawa, Akaza’s classmate, becomes a member after finding out about the dissolution of the Tea Club.
The Amusement Club, situated at the tea room facility since the Tea Club disbanded, has no clear purpose, being free for the girls to do whatever they want.
