The spring 2014 anime season is definitely looking to make a few changes when it comes to ongoing series and we might have a new casualty here. Revealed in the latest issue of V Jump magazine, Dragon Ball Kai (release as Z Kai in North America by FUNimation for previous episodes) will debut on April 6th at 9am on Fuji V. This new arc is set to cover the Maijin Buu saga of the original series. Like the previous run that we hadk, it’s going to be in high definition through remastered, reworked, recut and a rec-recorded soundtrack to provide a tighter version of events without all the fluff and pauses that made for frustration and plenty of jokes over the years. It’s expected to get a quick release in North America as some of the voice actors involved talked about doing recording for it in the spring of 2013.
Interestingly, with the timeslot that it’s being given, that’s where Toriko is currently broadcasting every week. With that getting close to the manga, it would be another show alongside Space Brothers that looks to be ending as the catch-up point is being hit.
